The Don C. Mitchell & Ness Snapback

About two months ago, Kanye West made a lot of noise when he rolled up to the CFDA Fashion Awards after-party in his Don C. custom made snakeskin brimmed Mitchell & Ness snapback. After much anticipation, the snapbacks have finally been released to the public exclusively at Chicago’s luxury boutique, RSVP Gallery.

So what is the BFD about these snapbacks? Unlike some of Kanye’s other fashion forward pieces (cue: the plastic shutter shades), this is a no nonsense kind of accessory. It’s baller status not because of who’s wearing it, but because it’s a genius design. Taking a classic sports team snapback (which will never ever go out of style for as long as the sports industry lives) and covering the brim and closure with reptile skin combines two contradictory lines of fashion. The sports team implies streetwear, it’s accessible to everyone and the snakeskin implies luxury, something to revel in once you succeed, it’s pure irony! If I were a guy I would find a way to shell out $400 for one of these because this snapback is more than a trend, it’s a concept that speaks for itself.
