“Ron English: Abject Expressionism” is a hardcover book that gives a comprehensive look at the 20-year art career of Ron English. Mr. English makes a satire of brand imagery and advertising and is considered a critical figure in the advancement of street art. Instead of the traditional wild lettering inked on the walls, English conveys clever statement using an incredible technique and trompe l’oeil effects.
The father of the Agit Pop Movement (a hybrid of Pop Art fueled by a more personal socially responsible message) works both on the streets and on canvas. His works have an illustration quality due to the great detailing in his works. He is a Billboard Pirate, laying work on commercial billboards ever since the 80’s, critiquing on consumerism where it’s least expected.
