What happens when you get legendary trailblazers and rising influencers in one building to catapult the culture to another level? An breakthrough event for the ages. This what occurred last Wednesday as promising fashion designers and some of hip hop’s most iconic figures was in the building to kick off New York Fashion Week 2018. Long Island City, Queens was the place to be to get a nice taste of some of the hottest urban luxury fashion brands that’s ready to take over the streets. Nexus SZN1 lived up to the signature hashtag and that is to #connectwiththeculture.
Organized by RocNation model/Paper Planes influencer Antoine Brown and hosted by ChriStylez, the voice of Trappin Anonymous and the newly restructured party tour known as D’ussepalooza, Nexus was an event created for stylish, fashion brand influencers to showcase some of their designs while network amongst one another. In addition, these talented stylists were fortunate to receive feedback and advice from some of hip hop and fashion’s most credible vouchers in the game. Brand such as Fly Habits NY, Tier NYC, Oliver New York, Alexander Nash x AB, Jaclar Athletics, Garcon Couture and Kayode Co Jewelry amazed the public with their uniqueness of the brand they are trying to elevate. They didn’t disappoint at all as Duckie Confetti, DJ Clark Kent, and Just C. Greenidge were in attendance to experience a new movement of New York Fashion at its best.
After all some of these name brands are familiar to the limelight as today’s celebrity figures have inquired about sporting their gear. Tier NYC, which was created by Nigeria Ealey, Victor James and Esaie Jean Simon, have the streets and industry buzzing about their clothing line for a long time. Rappers such as Big Sean, Desiigner and most recently Migos have sport some of the brands gear during radio and concert appearances or vacations with bae.
Meanwhile, Founder Kayode Owolabi of Kayode Co Jewelry was able to have superstars like Rihanna, Adam Sandler, Paris Hilton, Amber Rose, Chris Brown and many more sporting his accessory line as it compliments each of their outfits perfectly.
With celebrity DJ DJ Boof on the 1’s and 2’s, each brand did an fantastic job showcasing the authenticity of their work. Chris was able to create an intimate atmosphere where each of the stylists were able to paint a picture in the minds of the public as they tell stories of where they got their motivation from. With Revolt TV and D’usse on hand helping a new age of movers and shakers, Antoine did an outstanding job combining the power of networking and showcasing fashion’s next “it” brands. When he is not modeling the infamous Paper Planes catalog, you know he’s somewhere out there pushing forward the culture of fashion and hip hop thanks to his Toineskii Lifestyle platform. If you weren’t there to witness this great movement that the public has no idea of what about to approach them, I feel sorry for you. Just be prepared and keep a eye on the wave of talented designers that are ready to change the way we see fashion today.
