New Jersey has been on a bit of a wave in the recent months. Sure, you’ve seen the wild year that native Joe Budden has had while climbing up the social charts, providing viral moments for the culture like they’re finger foods at a party; but saying the music scene has had a quiet ascension would be an understatement. Cats like RetcH, Topaz Jones and my personal favorite Kaleb Mitchell, have blown the door wide open for all of Jersey to prosper. Never the one to miss an opportunity, Lakewood native Rae checks into the RESPECT. Magazine pages for the first time with his new visual for, “$tarboy.”
Set to the backdrop of an authentic East Coast bodega, Rae takes you on a journey through his mind and the city soundtracked to smooth drum kicks and infectious melody. “The idea for the track came from me knowing how far I’ve come in the past year,” the Lakewood rep said to RESPECT. via email, “I have this desire to be able to inspire the youth and show them how much they can progress as a person in just one year.”
When asked about his plans for the near future, Rae said, “They can expect more R&B vibes mixed in with the current Hip-Hop culture, with dope visuals.” Check out the visual below and be sure to keep an eye out for Rae, who’s Collecting My Thoughts project is set to drop this year.
