It is fantastic to be regarded as one of Jersey’s top 5 emcees, lyrically sparing with the likes of Ransom and the Kush God Smoke DZA. Cruch Calhoun has since become one of the most talked about unsigned artists, coming off of his 30-show tour last year along with an impressive mixtape (Free Speech).
Signed or unsigned, Cruch has been working relentlessly, gearing up to release a second mixtape in the next six months. Check out our brief interview with the rising star below.
RESPECT.: What does your newest single mean to you?
“Chit Chat.” I feel like it’s too much talking in the world nowadays and no action. To me, “Chit Chat” is saying stop talking and start proving.
RESPECT.: How long did it take to complete the project?
It took me about five months to complete my latest project Cincerely, Cruch, and that was basically the last five months of my life in music form.
RESPECT.: What producers helped out on the project?
Only 3 producers did the whole project: Swagga Gunnz (Reem Ali), DerrickOnTheBeat and D. Hayes. All my close homies and my go-to for fire.
RESPECT.: So far, what has been your biggest success and biggest failure? What have you learned from both?
My biggest success was the transition from the streets of Roselle to music and actually taking it seriously as an artist, from that I learned it’s more out here in this world other than the hood, it’s more ways to eat. My biggest failure was not getting this s*** crackin’ before a few of my loved ones passed on.
RESPECT.: Where you see your self in 5 years?
With my family, homies and loved ones looking at what we built… and being one of the most respected names in the world.
RESPECT.: What’s next?
A lot of new music, merchandise, tours, and videos finna shake the World.
RESPECT.: Any other shout-outs?
Shout out my whole hood. Roselle, USA. Jersey, my DG homies coast to coast and the fans and supporters that’s down and stayed down.
