Kendrick Lamar Drops New Track “The Heart Part IV” [LISTEN]

This is not a drill. Following a cryptic image via his social media, Kendrick Lamar drops the fourth installment of his highly-coveted “The Heart” series (hardcore fans will instantly recognize the importance). It’s the first official release from the Compton native since his surprise EP Untitled, which mainly consisted of tracks leftover from Kendrick’s To Pimp A Butterfly sessions.

On the track (which samples rising star Khalid‘s voice), K-Dot goes on a stream-of-consciousness trip, jumping from political subject matter (he definitely aims at Trump on this) to the latest happenings alongside label boss Top Dawg:

Donald Trump is a chump, know how we feel punk
Tell ’em that God comin’
And Russia need a replay button y’all up to somethin’
Electoral votes look like memorial votes
But America’s truth ain’t ignorin’ the votes…

In addition to possible shots at an unknown assailant (“Don’t tell a lie on me, I won’t tell the truth about you”), he also ends the track with a warning to get ready for April 7th — a possible allusion to an upcoming album.

Stream “The Heart Part IV” (produced by Axl Folie, The Alchemist, Syk Sense and DJ Dahi) below. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing an update from Kendrick (or someone within the TDE camp) soon.
