Spray artist A.Singl of Color Revolution sheds light on the human rights violations happening in China through his new piece. A.Singl is part of a group of artists working on a city-long protest campaign of Amnesty International. The organization’s purpose is to “not only light up the positive aspect of the twinning with Beijing, but also to point out to the citizens the areas in the world where human rights are defiant,” explains activist Christoph Steyer.
Using contemporary, capitalist symbols including Pikachu, Stich and the Apple logo, A.Single uses vibrant color to draw attention to a grey aspect of our society. Street artists are increasingly positioning themselves as the new historians, after all, they are the ones who ink history on the walls.
